Nvidia Tegra Developer Zone
Planning on launching their new Tegra system-on-a-chip at the CES 2009 in Las Vegas, Nvidia wanted to very quickly develop an online community for Tegra developers. This chip equips a very wide range of mobile devices from Toshiba, Microsoft, Motorola, Samsung and many others. Partnering with Chapter Three and Acquia, we delivered in about 4 weeks a full blown sites allowing Nvidia to efficiently articulate their communication with the developers for this new product.
Our team handled the actual development of the platform; after receiving briefs and mockups from both Nvidia and Chapter Three, we quickly iterated over the course of 3 weeks to deliver a fully functional site that allowed to communicate around the technical details of the Tegra product, provide forums for developers to seek support or trigger discussions, integrate with Twitter and other marketing tools Nvidia make use of.
As for all our Drupal projects, this site is completely built using Context, Features and Strongarm; our rigorous approach to development, based on exportables, install profiles and tools such as Drush make ensure we keep our development sprints lightweight, organized and uncertainties-free.
Before launching it, we coordinated with Acquia to ensure the site would behave with proper performance even under heavy load; we made use of Pressflow, Memcache as well as the Akamai CDN to do so.
