Job description:

Must have:

- 2+ years experience working with PHP, MySQL and HTML/CSS
- Familiar with Apache, Linux and Open Source Software
- Familiar with Web Standards
- Effective verbal and written communication skills (English & Mandarin)

Nice to have:

- Experience with Drupal or any other CMS (Joomla, Plone, Wordpress...)
- Participation in an Open Source project
- Experience with jQuery
- Familiarity with Illustrator & Photoshop

I'm in the early stages of looking for a Shanghai-based Drupal developer. At this point, exact requirements and scope of work are not defined. However, some aspects of the work include :

Drupal 7 development with Fields API and Views
Potential for large-scale, 24x7 integration of data from continual calls to various web services
Potential for on-going support of such a service (ex. rolling data files, monitoring the service etc.)

I'm a Drupal developer and would like to do this work myself, but I simply don't have the time. I'm new to outsourcing, so would like to learn about accepted outsourcing practices. My wife is from the Shanghai area, so I have some background in this area.

Monthly Drupal Meetup & Geek Drink in Shanghai, held by Wiredcraft

We are very glad to see that Drupal Meetup we had last couple times had positive feedback. Thus, we decide to have Meetup periodically in the near future. On the third Saturday of every month, location is still wiredcraft office (Room 309, 228 Meiyuan Lu, Zhabei District, Shanghai). Join us, sharing your experience and minds of Drupal, talking about problems you met, making more friends being in the same camp.

In addition, a new event --Geek Drink will be held twice a month, on every second and fourth Thursday. The location has not been decided. It's a drinking party facing all the Drupal and Open source geeks. All levels are welcome of course. You can go there talking some technical problems, or just come to drink and chat. Hope we could communicate more with each other.

Drupal Meetup and Geek Drink will begin since September, 2010. We are looking forward to your participation. Enjoy yourselves there.

With temperatures around 40 degrees and humidity going beyond 70% some days, we're having a hell of a summer. And while we, humans, are struggling to make it through the day, let's take a couple minutes and think about our cherished servers that are running our sites. I doubt that in these conditions they really enjoy seeing Drupal getting their CPU to skyrocket. Let's give them a hand!

This session will focus on performance with Drupal and the upcoming DrupalCon in Europe. Here are the planned tracks so far;

Performance and Optimization; speeding up your Drupal site, by Ronan Berder We will talk about the performance bottlenecks you may experience when deploying a Drupal site as well as their remedy, from identifying the sources of the problems to applying the adequate answer. If you're interested in learning about Varnish, Boost, Memcached, Opcode, Zabbix, Munin and overall anything related to caching or server monitoring, you don't want to miss that one.
DrupalCon Copenhagen; voice the opinion of the Chinese community, Makara Wang, Howell Hu and Ronan Berder A few of us at Wiredcraft will be heading soon to DrupalCon CPH which starts on August 23 in Danemark; come and share with us your thoughts on the Chinese Drupal community and what you would be interested in sharing with the rest of the Drupal ecosystem.

The E-Learning Lab of Shanghai Jiao Tong University is looking for a developer/company to rebuild their existing homepage located at http://www.dlc.sjtu.edu.cn/2007/index.htm in Drupal.
Work includes

Developing a design and structure based on the original site, but modernized
Setting up the site using existing texts (no authoring needed, but proofreading of the given texts would be appreciated)
Training of SJTU staff to enable further maintenance (Chinese & English language skills are of advantage)

We have no preference regarding a hosted site or SJTU installation.

The work can start immediately.

As a technological leader in the field of technology-enhanced learning, we want to illustrate our technological competence also on our Web site. Thus, we want to make use of the Semantic Web features of Drupal 7. Suggestions how to best do so would be appreciated.
