About Wiredcraft

In a nutshell, Wiredcraft build Web and mobile solutions using Open Source technologies. We solve real world problems; scaling sites to millions of users, building APIs for mobile applications, helping organizations visualize large sets of data and much more.

We are problem solvers before anything else and have done so successfully in several fields; performance, UI and UX, multilingual & mobile solutions, third party APIs... We love being challenged and try to find the best tools to do the job. We have done a fair amount of work with Drupal but our team has built expertise in a pretty wide range of technologies; NGINX, Python, jQuery, Solr, Sphinx, Puppet, Android, node.js and much more...

Our clients stretch across a wide range of industries; CNN, the United Nations, IFES, PopCap Games, Nvidia, NGOs as well as US government agencies.

We are looking for Open Source enthusiasts; people who like to learn, experiment and are not afraid to push the envelope. We want problem solvers just like us who like to be challenged and are motivated helping us grow our common expertise.

What you should have

  • Deep understanding of the LAMP stack; Linux, Apache / Nginx, MySQL, PHP... We need people that are familiar and proficient with those technologies and able to perform setup and maintenance.
  • Good troubleshooting skills; Know how to retrieve, browse, parse and search in various logs and formats (PHP-FPM slow and error logs, Nginx access and error logs, MySQL slow logs, etc.)
  • Good knowledge of Linux scripting; Bash, Perl or Python. In order to perform your daily work efficiently you need to be proficient in at least one of those languages.
  • Deep awareness on Security; iptables, file permissions, running users, user privileges, etc.
  • Familiar with some monitoring tools; Munin, Cacti, Zabbix. Being able to perform correlation between system and services metrics.
  • Understanding of Web technologies; HTML, CSS, HTTP... We need people that know pieces and parts of it, no development experience required but would be a plus.
  • Basic communication skills in English (we can help with that).

What would be nice (not a deal breaker)

  • Experience with caching services; Memcache, Varnish, CDN,
  • Experience with full-text search engines; Sphinx, Solr, Elastic Search, etc.
  • Experience with tuning, service optimization and scalability; Linux tuning, MySQL tuning, etc.
  • Experience with Python, Node.js, Ruby on Rails, Android.
  • Experience with high traffic websites.
  • Experience working in an agile environment with regular SCRUM meetings.
  • Participation in an Open Source project.
  • Familiar with tools such as Git, SVN, Github... Whatever proves you're an Open Source addict or an organized professional.

What you will do

You will work with the rest of our team to build, launch and maintain Web platforms for our clients. Perform various troubleshooting on our clients servers to define bottlenecks and suggest improvement and modification at the system or service level.

Your exact scope of responsibilities will depend on your skills but also on what you want to become better at; we encourage our colleagues to experiment with things they are not skilled at (yet) and want you to help us define the job that you'll be best at.
